Hi,

I assume that by using so much flux for handsoldering, there will be
visible residues afterwards. If this is the case, then what's the point
of using no-clean flux ? Using a good old RMA flux may be a better
choice, with better wetting properties and less corrosion risks as the
acitivators (if there's something left after soldering) are safely
embedded within an insulating colophony layer.

Another suggestion is to look in the datasheets of the flux you're
using, and check if the unheated material is qualified to be left on the
board. The datasheet should be backed up by a detailed testreport. But
be aware that there's still a risk that the results on your boards are
worse than on the testsamples that were used by the flux manufacturer.

Hello Technetters!
I often observe rework/touchup operators drenching the area of a PCB
they are soldering with no clean flux. When the flux spreads to an area
not heated by the soldering iron or washed away, what long term effect
will this have? Will it affect only certain designs or would this be a
problem for most?
TIA for your help!
