Once had a similar problem and was able to find a person that built
the piece of equipment in question in the company that bought the old
company. We had a telephone meeting and was able to find out what I needed.
Most of the time when a company merges with another, many of the personnel
go with it. It is not easy because you have to ask a supervisor that sends
you to another supervisor and finally to the right person.  Good luck.
