After reviewing IPC-A-610C for the criteria for defects based on lifted
Lands/conductors, I am trying to understand my options when dealing with
Class 3 boards having this defect. I run into this every once in awhile and
have so far scrapped all boards that have this problem, rather than trying
to fix them. As this can happen on painfully expensive boards, I would like
to know if we have a rework/repair standard that allows me some latitude in
repairing the lifted land/traces and the consequences for a Class 3
assembly.

I realize that customer expectations will factor into this somewhat, but I
want to base my decision on a standard AND the customer's input. What I
don't want to do is ship an assembly that does not meet the standard. Any
suggestions on where to look for this info? Or, whether this type of defect
kills the Class 3 board or if it can be repaired successfully and shipped?

Thanks in advance,
Dale Ritzen, CQA
