First, the foil suppliers, I am speaking mainly of plated foil, are
definitely NOT "your best source of info. about...foils." I was the chairman
of the IPC Copper Foil committee, so I know.
Rolled and plated copper foils are 2 quite different animals. Get a copy od
IPC-TR-484 "Results of Copper Foil Ductility Round Robin Study."
Rolled Cu: E=18x10e6 psi, S depends on rolling direction and degree of
annealing [different classes], as does ductility;
Plated Cu: E~12x10e6 psi, S depends on rolling direction and degree of
annealing [different classes], as does ductility;
in both cases be aware that elongation is NOT the same as ductility; for
foils elongation is an adequate process control indicator, but is not a real
mechaniical property.
