Roller Tin is the cheapest out I didn't know anyone still offered it. It is
an old crude method of applying SNPB to single sided PCB's. HASL, is Hot
Air Solder Leveling where the PCB is dipped into molten SNPB then air knives
blow off the excess SNPB 'leveling' the solder. Leveling is a stretch too -
because it creates sags, drips and runs. Not real level. Some of those
defects are insignificant to the assembly process, unless they get out of
control. Rolled tin is for very cheap things like punched SS PCBs for toys.
The cost of HASL is so low, I haven't seen a hot rolled board in ages.

Subject: [TN] Roller Tinned PCB's

Hi all,

Just a little stumped on terminology here, what is "Roller Tinning". What
is the specific differences between this method and HASL??? Are there any
specific pros/cons for the Roller method??? Any information would be
appreciated.

Cheers

Mike
