I would get the manufacture of the connector involved. I would hate to have
to add RTV (Also watch witch RTV you use if you do as some cause damage as
they outgas), have customer change out memory, only for it to continue to
fail because Dimm keeps popping loose in socket.

Well, my personal favorite is Duck (or Duct) Tape, but yes, we use RTV to
hold things in place for a lot of reasons. Connectors that pop loose, large
components that cal fall off in vibration, etc.

Do any of you seem to work somewhere where RTV is the answer to
everything???

We have a PCB with a DIMM socket. The DIMM is inserted at one angle and
then pushed down and 'locks' in at another angle to the PCB. Problem is,
the catch mechanism isn't very strong and sometimes the DIMM pops back up to
the insertion angle. We're concerned that when we ship these cards, the
DIMM will pop loose and eventually work its way out of the socket.
Any suggestions as to how to hold it in place? We don't want to do it so
permanently that we can't ever remove and replace a defective DIMM. The
suggestion around here is a dab of silicone RTV...
