In the case of insulated ring lugs I remember an IBM spec (C-P 3-0502-202) that stated "There shall not be more than two conductors per lug and two lugs per termination." The assumption being that the total equivalent wire gauge of the two wires determined the wire barrel size of the lug. So sizing of the lug to the wire(s) to be terminated must not be overlooked.

Subject: Re: [TN] Question about crimping

Juan,

Two wires in a pin designed for a single wire pin such as the crimp that
uses the 4 indents, e.g. Daniels AF-8, is not a way to go. Whenever I see
this situation in designs I ask for a splice upstream so that I can crimp a
single wire into a contact. Crimp splices are acceptable as well as the use
of solder sleeves.

I ask for this because of the scenario that you presented. It is difficult
to get a accurate pull test reading. It is also difficult to determine the
proper tool setting.

Good luck.
