Charlie: I don't believe the 1997 GR-78-Core doc calls out an equivalence or
"f" factor to multiply by. It does call out the test procedure which
includes running the test until there is no change in the ionic extraction
value for 5 minutes.

With the Omega 600 you should only have to put in the board surface area and
extraction volume and it will calculate the ug/sq.. in of NaCl equivalent
for you.

Another thought 633.5 sq.. in of surface area is a pretty large board,
unless they are spotting you a heck of a lot of area for the components. The
standard tank will hold a 12X16 board, unless you have the special extra
large extraction tank on your Omega meter it might not totally fit.

Subject: [TN] Ionic Equivalence

I need to meet a Bellcore requirement on an assembly of 6.45ugrams/sq.in.
(Based on the pwb surface area)

The assembly has 633.5 sq.in. surface area.

The customer has supplied me with documentation from;
Physical Design and Manufacture of Telecommunications Products PWB Assembly
Requirements, GR-78-CORE, Issue 1, Sept 1997. Section 7.1.3.9

I have an Omegameter 600. Is there an equivalence factor, etc? Or is it a 1
to 1 deal?

Thanks in advance.

Charlie
