If I haven't been brainwashed with fairy tales from my youth, pine resin
(once) formed a major component of flux, so you may have to watch out for
unexpected flux contamination of your boards if using untreated timber.

I guess you wouldn't get much static build-up on natural wood to zap your
boards, but you wouldn't get much static dissipation from it either, would
you (wood you)? Sorry, I have no info on this, as it's the first time I've
come across wooden board racks in a very long time, and they were varnished
for PTH boards.

Peter

Subject: [TN] Documentation on ESD Aspects/Issue with Untreated Pine Wood

I am interested in a studies, tests, notes, experiences regarding ESD
aspects of using untreated common pine slotted 2X4 wood PCB Assembly
holders. I've not experienced any ESD damage or other effects myself. Has
anyone any other information on this subject?
