We did this for a few contracts. We normally produce to a class 2 but at times we have contracts with class 3. We really didn't make large changes. The main things we changed were ionic testing and a lot of operator training. We found that in our normal process we can easily produce placements to class 3 already. We are a good solid to higher side of the class 2 requirements anyway. We then really focused on a first article process to confirm the process was producing a class 3. We then only used the operators who received the class 3 training to work on the contracts. If we do repeat business on these contracts of significant quantity I will give all employees the class 3 training. I have a power point training program I made that goes through all of the class 2 to class 3 differences for the processes and parts used on these specific contracts.
I believe we added an additional percentage to the normal labor rate to cover the additional training and process review.

Hi,
Just a couple of questions,
What changes do you make in your process to build a class 3 product when you
originally build to class 2?
How do you incorporate this into the pricing of the product?
