Hi Barry -- It is critical for the user to specify their panelization requirements. The panelization must be matched to your assembler and their equipment or disaster awaits. As a former PCB manufacturer, now with an EMS company, I have seen this requirement from both sides of the aisle. Most PCB fabricators can provide you with their shop panel sizes along with parameters to follow for drilling, routing, scoring and punching. They should provide you with their thief areas (parts of their panel they will use for tooling, handling and testing) where your product cannot encroach. This way, you can come up with a finished array of your assembler's liking and maximize the shop panel usable area for most eficient panel use. That should positively affect your bare PCB pricing. Hope that helps... but, really -- you should talk to the CAM staff or customer service at your PCB supplier firms. They will be the experts on their processes and requirements.

Subject: [TN] Board Penalizations.

Happy New Years T-netters.

I am researching Board Penalizations in an effort to standardize our
processes.

I am curious as to how the rest of the industry handles this. We have been
told that most manufacturers do not submit board penalization specs. for the
board house to follow.
Is this true.

We are trying to create a Spec. to issue to our board house's and would be
very interested in any guidance or input that the Tech. community would be
willing to provide.

Thank you.

Barry.
