Hello

Nanotubes (also C60/C80 Clusters) are a topic in fundamental research since
some years.
Carbon is a very nice material and it is possible to adjust the structure of
the molecules quite easy.
If you can do this you can build materials not more defined by elements,
just by structure.
But this is still fundamental research. But if you can show the possibility
to do something (independent of the initial effort) you will (and have to)
dream how it could be used.
That is the only change of making progress.
But than the effort has to be changed to applied research to deal with
practical question and the really hard work starts.
I think at least for the next 10 to 20 years electronics will be based on
silicon 8including its alloys) and compound semiconductors. But if something
seems to be possible why don't do it.

With out any dreams we still live on the trees.

Siggi

I found this article and thought it was a good topic of discussion.
Does
anyone else follow this technology? It seems we're bordering on the
age of
        hyperfast computing.
