Some of us keep old copies around with the supporting standards to gain
perspective but it is becoming very dated information. It certainly made
life easier for the system Program Managers since there were asigned
specialists (experts) for each of the technology segments. Someone that was
held responsible and you could turn to for the bottom line.

Thanks Everybody,

MIL-STD-454 got turned into a handbook - reference only but even reference
info is still good info.

hi,

although it's probably obsoleted, you might get a copy of mil-std-454.
requirements for enclosures (assuming you're talking about the 'black box'
type) are governed by requirements 1, 36, and 55. mil-std-454, as you
probably know, has requirements for just about everything else you'd be
interested in.

Subject: [TN] Military or Industry Specifications for Electronic
Enclosures

Hi Gang,

Finally, I have a question to ask the group instead of just lurking.

I'm hunting for a military or industry specification for electronic
enclosures covering the basics for the chassis etc. I've already found
MIL-STD-108 and MIL-E-2036 and they don't help much. Someone in the office
mentioned an old McDonald Douglas report that gave recommendations but I
haven't seen it.

The fab house is objecting to my going to aircraft tech orders for guidance
since "AF TOs apply to structural components of the aircraft not internal
boxes." Going overkill doesn't bug me as much as being underkill and I want
to find that happy medium.

Hans

You can run . . . but you'll only die tired.
