As owners of 2 DMC pull testers (for stranded wire pull tests for 6-26 awg),
we have strived to make sure pull tests have been done as accurately as
possible... Manufacturers of many terminals state that all crimp pull tests
are to be done pulling ON THE CONTACT SIDE of the crimp... But if you ask
how many cable shops and even connector manufacturers how they do their pull
testing, they'll tell you that often times, they place the length of the
terminal in under the slotted grip... This causes deformation and bending,
which leads to varied results, and makes it so you're no longer testing the
actual integrity of the conductor crimp. Is there any documentation in
written work standards that makes this concrete? I have spent time on
custom grip designs to circumvent these problems, but want to back up my
design with the right information.

...Even Cirris' new video for their new pull tester shows pulling a crimp
using the slotted grip method. I'm confused about where to stand on this
issue...

Thank you, anyone who can help...
