This goes back a few years! Unfortunately I think you are looking for

f. A brittle intermetallic compound formed by the interaction of gold and
aluminium in microelectronic devices.

It was a problem where Al bond wires were used on Au surfaces. The problem
was solved by not doing it or by using an appropriate extra 3 layer chip in
the package well. this was scrubbed down and gave an appropriate surface on
each face with a neutral centre core. These bond chips are still available
as a "standard" product from a couple of companies, I think with some fancy
name.

I suppose if you check with someone like K & S they will have more data,
being in the bond wire business.

Ioan,

Regarding purple plague:

a. Purple Plague
1 1/2 oz Chambord raspberry liqueuer
4 oz white wine (Zinfandel)
3 splashes 7-up

b. an ordnance survey in England

c. A photographic problem

d. http://www.corrosion-doctors.org/MatSelect/corrgold.htm

e. an invasive plant also called purple loosestrife

Personally, choice A seems appealing right about now...................

Hi Technos,

after flirting with black pads, I remembered having read something about
purple plague. Can anybody point me to on-line documentation on the purple
plague?

Thank you,
Ioan
