Hi Bev,

I found this report on the following web location:
        http://www.eeca.org/pdf/special.pdf
and I am 'trying' to read it. It will take some time.

Regards, Ahne.

    Ahne,
    Actually I think it means that future generations will be mining lead
along with aluminum, copper and other metals from our landfills. To quote;

    "...........Other studies conducted on landfill waste, including a 1993
Toxicological Profile of Lead conducted by the US Department of Health and
Human Services, have concluded that the health concerns from landfilled lead
are minimal."

    I happen to live in an area where mining is a major form of commerce. I
really can't get to excited about people burying metal instead of digging it
up. As far as I can see a landfill is as good a place as any to store metal
until it becomes economically feasible to recycle it. Then we get to dig it
up again!!

    What worries me going into land fills;
    - old electrolytic caps and transformers
    - any kind of battery ( except lead acid types)
    - any kind of paint, pesticide, or herbicide
    - any kind of petroleum product

    Just my POV
    Dan
