Hello technetters,

I've got the opportunity to adjust the layout in the Surface Mount Assembly
area.
A very interesting discussion has started.
Is it smart to place the lines in such a matter that the frontsides of 2
lines are facing each other?
I'm talking about 4 productionlines. So 2 lines will start at one end of the
room and the other 2 lines at the other end of the room.
Issues as logistics and "number of operators needed" are discussed.

This proposal comes from productionmanagement.
And I cannot be convinced in the "advantages" of such a layout.
Is there anyone who actually uses such a layout?
Are there really advantages in the daily practice?

Any comment on this subject is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
