Carrie,

Maybe we need a special "Whacking Stick for that too." The Inspectors
"board of education."

What's the TM 650 spec for mechanical stress testing? I don't have it handy.
(Sorry)

All I've ever "seen" in IPC, to actually address the thread a little bit,
is referecnces to optics and methods required to perform inspections. Eyes
are technically 'optical equipment' so it must be inferred, (Particularly in
any ISO shop) that the use of properly functioning or "made-capable'
apparatus is a requirement to perform any tasks leading to product
realization, particulalrly when the apparatus are attached to your greatest
resource.(Yeah, I'm the ISO mgr too.)

I'd say that eye exams are great addition to any certification criteria but
not just for inspectors. Try bringing in a local eye doctor to set up an
"Eye inspection station" for the day. Make it optional, let everyone go
through the course of the day, and maybe the doctor gets a bunch of
refferals. (I doubt the Doc's will go for it, but hey, its worth a try.)

But I can't see IPC setting a standard for that. What's next, the Lower GI
joe spec, the liver spec, acceptable tolerance for nagging from your boss
spec....wait that leads to mechanical stress testing again doesn't it?.

Eyes need inspections too.

Steve
