Hi Peter,
Soldering to solder is the best possible way. Nothing wrong with soldering
high-MP solder balls with eutectic Sn/Pb--and it is no surprise at all that
this has worked very well.
You say "Thank goodness the lead-free zone hasn't expanded as far as
Singapore yet
(except for US customers)." Are you telling us your US customers require
lead-free?
Given all the technical findings, I think lead-free solder products should be
prohibited to display that 'green leaf' on their boxes.
