If you're just needing a certainty that it met requirements then a CofC is
sufficient, provided it references those required tests or critiera...if you
are wanting specific data, numbers, results of, etc etc then test data or
records are what you should request...

Typically a CofC is a "statement of assurance" that the product or service
meets agreed upon requirements...nothing more, nothing less...

Good afternoon,

A question has arisen regarding a Certificate of Compliance.  A vendor will
give us a C of C for the materials in an assembly or for specs of his
design, but not for an item within our design specs. Example, we spec a
pressure test for an assembly.  We want to know that the assembly has been
tested (and passed).  Are we looking for the wrong kind of document?  To
have the document (C of C) mean anything each assembly would need a unique
serial number or identifying unique date code.

Would his be better handled by a "record of inspection"?  Is it just a
matter of semantics?
