Unfortunately, I am not aware of any published literature dealing with silver
embrittlement. The problem hit IBM-Austin in 1982-3 and caused the formation
if the IEEE Compliant Lead Task Force--Bell Labs had 4 active members, Jack
Balde was chairman. 23 companies were actively involved. Because of the
failures due to 'silver embrittlement', the industry questioned the
effectiveness of compliant leads per se.
