Hi Brian,
I though of you when I read that article--I have used your WHS concept and
picture ever since Lugano--have you heard anything from Alessandro Birolini
since his retirement?--in my workshops.
You do not have to go as far as Kuching, Kuanta--Houston will do nicely. The
automotive industry has not learned anything, and the problems are actually
getting worse. I have been involved in cases where airbags exploded without
external cause--you can picture the consequences when travelling at 140kph.
Also with SUVs--highest under-hood temperatures where windshield wiper motors
failed because of solder joint failures of very badly designed control PCAs.
However, the automotive industry is still not involved in the electronics
industry. I, and others, sure have tried.
The article is far from perfect--ppm is a wholly inadequate measure of
reliability when wearout is involved, but at least it points out some of the
issues.
I hope things are well now with you.

Werner
