I turned the pot down yesterday to see what effect it would have. And that
effect was - the operators turned it back up to (argh) maximum! It probably
is 550C!

It is still as black as ever, and yes the color after wiping off the dross
could be described as gold.

Now I have to go educate.....

I'm not sure how this is affecting the quality of our products. We typically
tin wires in harness prior to final assembly operations were they are
soldered to a PCB. And we don't analyze this pot, when the dross gets
excessive we just replace the solder.

Lots of room for improvement in this process...
