From the research I have done Flying Probers are also somewhat slow. A test
of a single board can take 10 minutes or more, depending upon complexity. I
looked at Genrad and Teradyne a year and a half ago at Apex. Nice machines,
but couldn't justify the expenditure with any time savings. I would have had
to incorporate auto-loading with board handling equipment and make the
machine run by itself. FWIW, I thought the Genrad was a better machine.
Never looked into either Takaya or Spea.

Subject: [TN] Flying Probe Testers...

Hi All!

Our company is looking at Flying Probe testers, and I told our test engineer
I would post to the list and ask ya'll if anyone has experience and an
opinion (good or bad), of some of the makes out there...

Our test engineer went and looked at two of them this past week (Takaya and
Spea), and between the two, he's leaning toward the Spea. He said the reason
he was leaning towards the Spea, is that you have to give the Takaya a known
good board first, and to him (and me), that kinda defeats the whole concept
about flying probe testers.

Any feedback anyone can share will be most kindly appreciated
