Hi Ramon! The use of a solder/gold finish interface for connectors is not
preferred. A solder/gold finish interface is typically only used when: a)
the connection is a once or twice insertion for its life; b) high insertion
forces are employed to insure good metal-to-metal contact. The oxides of
tin and lead are not coherent, adherent species so they tend to "spall" off
creating connector debris that causes intermittent problems.

Subject: [TN] Golden Pin Connectors
If the pins of two gold Plated mating connectors were tinned,
would
it cause any intermittent connection in the future by the pins being
tinned
and the sockets being gold plated? Or would the connectors conduct just
fine?
Regards,
Ramon
