Hi Ed! The Specific Heat Capacity of Sn60/Pb40 is 150 J Kg(superscript: -1)
K(superscript: -1) and the its Latent Heat of Fusion is 37 KJ Kg
(superscript: -1). You should be able to make your calculation using these
values plus don't forget to add into the equation the solderpot specific
heat contribution. Good Luck.

Subject: [TN] Solder melt energy coefficient

Hi all,

Does anyone know the energy (BTU, Watts, HP, etc.) required to raise some
amount of SN63 solder (lbs, kg, etc.) some thermal unit (deg. F or C) in
an amount of time (min, hours, etc.)? Now to make the question even more
"anal" (pardon my moonish term) how about the energy to go through phase
transition? Have I been thinking about wave soldering too much? Probably
so, but I need this info to determine the correct kW values to heat an "N
lbs" pot in "X" time (a customer requirement).

Regards,
