Victor,
I think that qualification of a product means determining that the product /
vendor is capable of meeting your requirements. It's a one-time event that
occurs before purchasing, or on 1st piece. The means used to qualify
usually depend on how critical the part is.

Inspection checks that the product continuously meets your requirements.
It's an event that's repeated each time the product is received.

Good Luck,
Mark Hargreaves

        Subject: [TN] Difference in TERMINOLOGY

        Fellow TechNetters,

Is there a difference in TERMINOLOGY are is INSPECTION &
RECEIVING the
same as would be a QUALIFICATION of product.
Any HELP with literature and/or industry definition of the two
arenas.
This is a serious subject. I understand that QUALIFICATION
would require all means available to determine probable material
failure and
        use of material selection.
