I built a pre-PIND conditioner one time using the base of a vibratory bowl
feeder. To measure/set the amplitude and frequency of the vibrations I used
an accelerometer. At the time accelerometers were very inexpensive, although
you have to add a power supply and an 'oscope. I'd imagine you would want a
recording 'oscope or a chart recorder on the out put. This would be a
distinct advantage over the hand held units. These guys helped me out
