I am interested in the most appropriate cleaning method for PCBs after
soldering. I do not have a bath, but am able to brush or spray alcohol or
flux-off over the board. I can never get it as clean as when it is initally
stuffed and cleaned before returning to me. In military applications,
especially those that operate in saltwater enviornments, it is very
important that I can clean the board just in case I have to touch up a
solder joint or replace a part. Is there a particular solder that makes the
job easier such as organic core, rosin core, no-clean, etc...? Also, is
there a particular type of cleaner that works best with the different
solder types? I was told that a toothbrush and soapy water could remove
some flux. Seems like that would be a nice method with readily available
products. Finally, maybe it is the flux and not the solder that really
matters. Are there different types of fluxes that are easier to clean than
others? Any help is greatly appreciated.
