My perspective is that I have seen far to many factories that are running with SMT lines down more than 50% of the time and the people don’t
see that as a big deal because the time is lost in very small increments from feeder changeover and reloading exhausted feeders. I see
companies regularly spend more than 1 hour doing a changeover and 3-4 minutes reloading a feeder this adds up to 3-5 hours of downtime per
shift. This problem is wide spread and needs to be fixed, it is one of the fundamental reasons that we are not able to compete with China. Our
costs are not the problem although they are higher. The output of a typical plant could be increased 30 percent a lot easier than most process
engineers think. This could double your bottom line. then there is little reason to send the work over to China, as you will take away the
financial reason. if anyone is interested I have a White Paper on this topic on our web site that is free, www.blissindustries.com click on
Profit-Driven Manufacturing and then on download white paper. I would like to hear all your comments on my comments
