Steve,
I'll bet you have learned more than you wanted to know on this subject, but I'll throw in
two cents. We have always use plain old garden variety bread
pans. All waves I have worked on have a drain, to which we hang a pipe. This pipe is of
a length that will reach the floor, minus working distance for the
bread pan. The diameter of the pipe should be great enough to keep from plugging with the
solder (11/2" - 2"). You will get a little splatter so get your
sandals off or stand back a little bit. We fill to within 1" to 2" from the top to allow
the pan to be slid out of the way without spilling. Grab the top ring of
the pan with some big channel lock (no commercial) pliers to maneuver that around. You'll

have about a 20-25 lb.. ingot when they cool off. I have never
had a sticking problem as the ingot seems to pull away when it cools. Have ordered them
through McMaster-Carr. In a pinch, I have raided True Value
and cleaned them out.

Good luck and wear old jeans -your never going to get the speckles of solder out of the
cuff.

Gary
