Since this was posted late last month, I thought I would repost.
I would say the score is BIG BUSINESS 1, Consumer 0.
Is somebody gonna try to pick up the ball and score one for the little guy?

...........................

There has been recent discussion on whose footprint to use when laying out a
PCB. We opted to use the manufacturers since it was an RF application and
IPC’s was much larger then the designer wanted. It just so happened that the
manufacturers data sheet contained a typo. This problem was not discovered
until after the first production run of boards. This mistake cost our company
quite a bit of money:

   $2,500 rework charge
   $2,455 Cost to replace the bare boards already ordered
   $2,500 Engineering cost to redesign the PCB layout
   ======
   $7,455 Total

The manufacturer only agreed to pay $2,955 (the $2455 to replace boards
plus $500 for rework).

   $7,455 Total
   $2,955 Settlement
   ======
   $4,500   Lost by our company!

Vishay is a large company and I feel they need to be more accountable for their
mistakes. Our company accepted the settlement, but I am still not pleased. If
this happened to me it could happen to you!!!

Please take a minute to email Dale and let them know that we as the consumer
are not happy. You can make a difference and bring the industry back to the
great business it used to be.

Coincidently, after we notified them of this error, they added legal statements
to their documentation freeing them from liability caused by any misinformation.
So if and when it happens to you, they won't be liable!!!
