- Components with 100% Sn terminations are used since many years causing no problems in profiling
- As soon as the Sn plating of the termination will form an alloy with SnPb the resulting alloy will have a melting point between the one of eutectic SnPb and pure Sn
- In soldering it is not necessary that the plating is melting. Soldering is a process where a liquid phase reacts with a solid partner. In this respect it is a diffusion process. If the partners involved in joining have to melt we talk about welding.
