It's almost purgatory or, maybe hell, but it takes all those young
innovators to want to listen to those a bit more experienced. It's often
just way too easy to point fingers instead of trying to see the light.

That's part of the problem. Another is engineers moving into management
leaving behind not a very good legacy new engineers can inherit. Of course
recessions, and all that go with them as layoffs, etc. have a negative
impact as well. Then, people retire and take it all with them leaving a void
newcomers must fill.
