We had an oil contamination (actually too much wave oil) in our pot and used
a simple techique of collecting it on a paper towel floated on top of pot
while wave was running for a brief period (note that too long and the paper
could ignite...)

Bottom line though, if pot is stirred (by running wave) then wave shut down
the particles (being lighter than solder...) will float and removing dross
should do it. I'ld repeat 2-3 times and then you could I suppose check the
dross for contaminates....

Subject: [TN] Solder Pot Contamination

Hi all,

Has anyone ever come across a method in which to detect resin (polyurethane
particles) contamination in a Wave Solder Pot???? And in turn, a method to
remove this sort of contamination???

Cheers

Mike
