Folks,

I keep hearing of " MOISTURE SENSITIVE COMPONENTS. However, I have not
heard of a category till not, CAPACITORS. What type of marking and/or
footprint denotes this animal.

Stay In touch,

victor,

We are seeing moisture sensitive level 4 capacitors all over our new designs
(several different manufacturers). I am also getting capacitors that are not
only moisture sensitvie but thermally sensitive also. Suggest heeding the
warning we recently cracked capacitors in the reflow oven when an operator
didn't believe a reeled capacitor was really moisture sensitive. What I am
told is that these new capacitors are electrical marvels acting like large
batteries capable of storing a very large charge with a small package and
weight. Once again great for the design guys and garbage for us poor souls
that have to get them soldered to a board somehow! My design guys were not
even aware of these processing constraints untill I complained! I am going
to request we be given the option to attached with conductive adhesive
rather than solder.

Sorry the news isn't good but that's how it is!

Subject: [TN] Moisture Sensitive ( Not ICs)

Hi All

We have just started receiving some components for a new customer job and
noted that they were moisture Sensitive, these were some Caps and some LEDS.

Has any one seen these before??
There was no information on the packaging other then the Level #.
Bake and process requirements were left blank.
Would I be asking for trouble if I followed the generic requirements for
the specific levels of the devices?
