Maybe it is not totally what you want to hear, but: It depends. I
tried (for low volume stenciling or dispensing, prototyping /manual
p'n'p purposes) many pastes and ended with an Alpha paste RMA390D3K
which can without any problems sit a whole day and is tacky enough
and reflows fine (visually according IPC-A-610) even if itself is
(against all recommendations - I wouldn't do this with customer
stuff) two years outdated and the components have five year old
datecodes.
