There are actually several volumes to the MM Workmanship Standard addressing
different technology areas. i.e., SMT, Microelectronics, Mechanical, ESD.
Discussion in the 610 committee was that the surface appearance is greatly
process dependent and is not necessarily indicative of the success of the
solder connection related to the performance of the product in it's
appropriate environment. Wetting criteria was considered very important.
610 as an acceptability standard does not prescribe processes as do other
types of standards so no particular process application could be assumed.
Cold connections as well as surface appearance is addressed on page 6-3,
section 6.1 of 610C.

Hope this helps and you can find the document you were looking for.

Hi Mr Parrish,

We have IPC. I am looking for Martin-Marietta Workmanship Standard
due to customer's request.

By the way, I found that IPC-610 does not mention grainy joint,
shinning joint, dry or cold solder, etc..

I wander is there any IPC document mention about these defect.

Poh
