Hi Hans,

The low reliability straps that they were talking about previously were the
cordless wrist straps that work through coronal discharge. Heel straps
should be Ok when you have to walk with the board for a short distance, if
the floor is properly grounded (Conductive wax, floor mats...). Wrist straps
are still recommended here for most of the work. There are also some shoes
that help with ESD dissipation, instead of the heel strap. Wonder if they
make these in cowboy boots format?

Hey Graham,

You might want to check the archives - I thought folks said those things
don't work for every situation (or just as good as those pesky cell phone
antennas). I had a heck of a time getting our assembly folks to wear their
ESD coats - unless they were Hunter's camouflage, with their name
embroidered over the pocket. Then I still had one worker tell me she
couldn't wear anything more than the silk and synthetic blouse - too warm
blooded.

Good day TechNet!
A simple but important to me question for any southern Technetters: Is
there such as thing as a strap-on ESD heel strap that will work with cowboy
boots?

No, I am not kidding. Seriously. We have an operator who has back problems
that "go away" if the boots are worn. Not going to argue the point, I just
would like said operator properly gounded... then we can all be happy.

We use the standard strap on heel straps on our grounded floor, but they are
obviously not designed for a high cut boot.
