I just finished reading through Product Design for Manufacture and Assembly
by Geoffrey Doothroyd, Peter Dewhurst and Winston Knight. They and a DMFA
method supported by time studies, and software that attempts to predict the
actual time needed to assemble the proposed product. There is a chapter on
electrical connections and wire and cable harness assembly. Very interesting
reading for technos like us. I think the method would work for you.
