I've received a copy of a presentation made (in German) by a Prof. at
the University of Stuttgart about the environmental impact of lead-free
solders. This was the result of German, Swiss and US co-operative
studies.
My German isn't up to making an accurate translation, although I can
understand most of it. Are there any kind souls who are willing to
volunteer? In the meanwhile, anyone wanting to see it in version
originale can ask me off-netlist. I can say that the impact, especially
of silver-bearing alloys, is not very rejoicing.
Incidentally, the methodology of the studies is also interesting and may
be exportable to other fields.
