In the relatively few years I've been working with flex, and particularly,
HDI flex...seeing such an announcement as Sanminas' sets off warning flags.
I can understand a company changing its strategy as the times change,
however, when the company has been a high volume producer and not known for
investing in equipment, facilities, etc., that would make me very cautious.
We have been approached by companies that previously did not want to build
our technology, but as the times began to get tougher, they start looking at
some of us as potential customers. If our designs were too difficult to
build a year ago, how are these companies any more capable of such difficult
manufacturing now? It just makes me cautious.

Jana,

That's why I posted the question. Mr. Shah used to run Litronic until he got
too many Rolls Royce's (dont' care how you spell that as I've never had the
appetite for one or many). His competitor (Cirtel), the one in Irvine or
some such thing (EZ, where are you?) did this kind of thing but sold out to
someone else I can no longer remember.

Anyway, Jure always booked business but hardly ever shipped on time or with
specified quality. Just can't let this go by the wayside. Don't get sucked
in. Qualify the situation and capabilities. This is dangerous stuff.
However, surprises abound in this business. Kris Shaw's sign upon entry to
his facility was/is "we are a profit making organization." Cute, eh?
