When we evaluate a wave solder flux, one of the tests we perform is to run
SIR and EM coupons facing up, and allow over spray as would be normally seen
at a "heavy" flux application setting. The board then is processed through
preheat and the bottomside exposed to typical wave conditions. SIR and EM
testing is then completed. Of course we also run a set of coupons "down" to
simulate actual exposure to the full effect of fluxing, preheat and wave.

Is anyone concerned about the over spray of flux on the top of PCB
assemblies. We use generic pallets in our process, so our PCB's will get
over spray form the spray fluxer, it has recently been brought up as a
concern.  We use a no-clean flux (Lonco SLS65).  Does anyone else do this
also, and if so do you have the same concerns?  The flux can sometimes be
pretty noticeable. I am in the process of getting Ionic testing done, but
would like your experiences.
