It was pointed out to us at IPC that it would be helpful to periodically post some guidelines for participating on Technet.

Technet is a technical forum geared discussion of technical, manufacturing, process and quality issues of electronic manufacturing. Although any type of posts regarding to the above are encouraged, if the particular situation is of narrow interest, please consider responding privately off-line to the original poster, and not to the list. 

Please check the archives at http://listserv.ipc.org/archives/technet.html or http://listserv.ipc.org/scripts/wa.exe?S1=technet first before submitting a post to see if your question has been brought up and answered before. 

When responding to lengthy and/or posts which have been responded to, as a courtesy, strip off any extraneous info- especially the trailing footer which is attached to every post and response.

Please consider if you really have to add your "me too" or short comment to a heavily replied-to post. Remember, EVERY POST and REPLY goes out to over 1,000 subscribers.

Send all list commands such as NOMAIL, SIGNOFF, to [log in to unmask], not to Technet.

Commercial postings including postings for job openings and resumes are prohibited. (They ARE allowed on our [log in to unmask] list)

Remember, you can set your Technet subscription to either Digest or Index mode and  (receive One mailing, or a listing of the Headers, respectively.)

The Technet community is a constantly evolving and changing community, consisting of professionals all over the world with varied experiences. Each individual's netiquette on the list goes a long way in making this a valuable resource for all.
