Earl,

We performed this type of processing with an electronic airbag control unit
at a former employer. The populated pwb received a press-fit connector, was
then encased with a lid and four screws, then was robotically sealed around
the connector and lid with a two-part, somewhat flexible, epoxy. The epoxy
was checked for both volume and holes, then was allowed to dry for two hours
before being final tested (including electrical function and presence of
leaks) .

Please let me know if you need any further details.

Subject: [TN] AUTOMOTIVE PACKAGING/SEALING REALIBILITY

Folks,

Are there those of you out there doing automotive type packaging using
various sealing techniques/processes ensuring high reliability and
survivablity under hood? If so, I have an application needing similar
packaging especially in areas of sealing "lids" on top of boxes containing
electronic assemblies and parts.

If you can share any information concerning this type box build and "lid"
sealing, please advise and ask all the questions you wish.

MoonMan
