San Jose, Calif. - January 7, 2002 - Tessera Technologies announced today
that it has reached settlement with Texas Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:TXN) of
pending litigation between the companies relating to CSP technology. The
settlement will result in the dismissal of patent infringement claims and
related issues in U.S. District Courts in Oakland, CA and Marshall, TX.

Under the terms of the settlement, the parties will release each other from
all pending claims and counterclaims. TI will make a one-time payment to
Tessera. The settlement includes a royalty-bearing license that covers TI's
MicroStar? family of FBGA packages. The MicroStar package is primarily used
to package TI's flagship DSP technology used in OEM products, such as mobile
phones, MP3 players and personal digital assistants. The remaining terms of
the settlement are confidential.

?Tessera is pleased that it has been able to reach an agreement with Texas
Instruments?. said Chris Pickett, senior vice president, licensing business
and general counsel, Tessera. ?We look forward to building a positive
business relationship with TI as we move forward.?

This will do it for me. Now, most of the problems I faced before will be
resolved, qualified to the extent all else is acceptable. Also, I will now
contact TI directly concerning their MicroStar package and see when our 6302
DSP will be available, if not already.
