I like your thinking Richard ... too often the final decision rests with
upper management so it doesn't matter a shit what the quality guy says (he
has to cover his ass though) ... has it's pluses and its negatives ...
No one every told me I'd need a degree in politics too!

Olivia,

These questions are all good and valid depending, of course, on what you
are looking for in an Quality Engineer.  However, equally important are the
questions that an interviewee should ask you.

For instance, "What authority does the quality department have to shut down
production if a quality problem is uncovered, even if it means missing ship
dates."

A good quality engineer should want to know if the company's quality
philosophy is supported by all, especially upper management, or if it is
only lip-service.

BTW, Quality Engineer is a description not just a job title.  In my case at
least, :)
