As long as the oven can provide the thermal profile you need, I don't think
size matters. Just check all areas of the board for adequate temperature.
Sticking a large cold mass into a small oven will drag the profile down,
and the oven may take a longer time to compensate for this than it would
for a relatively smaller mass. If you have a large volume of work, a larger
oven might be justifiable in terms of having a larger "heat pool" that
won't be dragged down so much by relatively smaller boards. It will be more
stable thermally speaking and will probably recover its temperature more
quickly than a small oven.

My hypothetical 2 cents.

What advantages does a larger reflow oven have over a smaller one other
than
size? We have a small unit that will fit a 10" wide board. We would like a
unit that would fit a 13" wide board. Is there any other justifications to
a
larger oven? We do not use lead free.

Thanks
Dave Snyder
