Hi Scott
We currently mark everything. Two methods are used:
Epoxy ink marking - typically we use a stamp to apply the number, similar to a date stamp.
or (preferred)
thermal printed on a kapton label.
Marking goes on first thing, before any parts.
PCB fab vendors mark lot codes, so I'd imagine they could serialize pcb's - for a price. Whether it would be cheaper than marking yourself - don't know.

Is anyone currently serializing PCB's, pre or post assembly? What methods
are currently available? I am familiar with pad printing, ink-jet, laser,
labels, etc. Are PCB fab vendors usually set up to serialize PCB's?
