What Brian says is correct but, its all a question of degree.

If you have a spray booth, it would be good practice to cover it with
disposable brown paper or foil. In this way, you can remove the paper
covering and dispose of it in the trash - appropriate to the trash in
question. It will only have cured material on it, so it should not represent
too much of a hazard.

Other "unprotected" surfaces that have freshly coated assemblies placed upon
them, plus the floor in the immediate working area, will need to be
hand-scrubbed down with IPA. There are some silicone digesters on the
market, but I would make sure you fully understand the health & safety
issues before using such a product.

In respect to the spray gun and material feed line, you must purchase a new
gun and line dedicated to the Acrylic.

I think you could then switch with "reasonable" ease - we do!

Why do all this? Because nothing sticks to silicones, and this may
compromise the quality performance of the "other" coating material.

If you want more, it'll cost ya! Hope this helps.

Subject: [TN] Conformal coating setup change

Hello,

Could anyone clarify if it is feasible to convert a silicon conformal
coating area/ booth to an acrylic one?

I was told that once the area is setup for silicon it will become
"contaminated" and the process is irreversible for other coatings to be
used. Is this true? If it is could someone provide the technical reason
behind?

Regards,
Peter
